But ur company mission isnt the only way we strive to create change in this world.From new hires to ur executive leadership, Glassdoor team members are passionate about giving back to their local communities. Here are just a few of the ways that weve made a difference over the years. While we take pride in what weve accomplished so far, watch out - were just getting started.Since September 2015, Glassdoors been a member of the Pledge 1% movement , a philanthropic effort that encourages companies to dedicate one percent of their time, equity, and product towards their communities. Th rough the 1% Pledge, all Glassdoor employees are eligible for 3 paid days off (or 24 hours) for volunteering at an organization of their choosing. Employees have used this time to pitch in at a nearby ranch that hosts camps, classes, and other programs for children gather school supplies for underfunded schools volunteer at urban community gardens and more.At Glassdoor, we invest in the community - literally In keeping with the second prong of the Pledge 1% movement, Glassdoor has set aside one percent of our equity to be used for social good. Learn more here Theres no place like Glassdoor for the holidays This past year, we were able to fulfill hundreds of wishes from the Family Giving Tree , which partners with organizations like schools, homeless shelters, community centers, and more to collect holiday wishes, as well as the U.S Marine studentencorps Reserve Toys for Tots Program , Operation Christmas Child , and Angel Tree , to name a few. But the star on top of the tree may have been when Santa and Mrs. Claus landed via se aplane right outside the Glassdoor HQ to hand out gifts to deserving children from nearby Marin City. With transportation like that, who needs reindeer?Whoever said theres no such thing as a free lunch must not have worked at Glassdoor. Its one of our favorite perks here - whether its the catered meals in our Mill Valley headquarters or a delivery from Seamless at our Chicago office, Glassdoor employees are not left wanting in the lunch department. But as much as we love our free food, we dont mind giving it up for a worthwhile cause. Thats why weve implemented monthly Gratitude Lunches, where the money that would have been spent on catering is instead directed towards a worthy nonprofit. Most recently, that money went towards the local Bayside Martin Luther King Jr. Academy to help fund an after-school music and arts program. Glassdoor employees at the Mill Valley headquarters were lucky enough to see a performance of Beauty and the Beast from some talented second and third grad ers, as well as a rock concert from some of the older kids (who had some lessons from our very own Glassdoor employees). Additional Gratitude Lunch money has been used to fund the Boys & Girls Clubs of America , a program to get young girls interested in STEM careers, and more.Transparency has always been at the heart of Glassdoor. And this year, we were lucky enough to partner up with a nonprofit who feels the same way. This March, Glassdoor CEO Robert Hohman joined the advisory board of New Story , a nonprofit that builds safe homes and transforms slums into thriving communities. Setting it apart from other NGOs, New Story has a fully transparent platform that connects you with who youre helping, shows how 100% of your donation is being put to work, and proves your impact via video when the family moves in. To date, New Story has funded over 750 homes in seven communities around the developing world - and they show no signs of slowing down.At Glassdoor, we believe that everyone should be able to find a job that fits their life, regardless of their background - so weve done a number of things to help ensure that disadvantaged communities have a fair shot at getting a job just like anyone else. Part of this involves our Dress for Success drives, where we partner with a local nonprofit to gather clean, ready-to-wear, and fashionable professional clothing for those who arent in a position to purchase their own. Whether its used for day-to-day wear in the office or to make a good first impression in a job interview , this clothing pays a small but significant role in helping people ensure that their careers continue to flourish.While its great to be able to help adults with their career goals , we also think its never too early to start thinking ahead To that end, Glassdoor employees have generously donated their time to technical literacy and coding programs designed to help get children without regular access to computers and the internet on equ al footing with their peers. In these classes, dozens of kids learn critical skills like typing, email, Microsoft Office, internet safety, computer repair, and more. Regardless of what career field these kids end up in, the skills they learn are sure to pay off down the road.This past February, our Glassdoor Ohio team dove into the icy cold waters of the Portage Lakes in their annual Polar Bear Jump, in which brave volunteers, backed by sponsors, plunge into the frigid lake to raise awareness of and money for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. In total, Glassdoor team members raised $1,863.00, which provided 7,452 meals to those in need - and despite the 35-degree water, theyre raring to go again next yearAre you an employer?
